I have been with Walmart for almost three years and since I've been there things have gotten really bad. I have been skipped over for a higher position and I have had to be multi-coded for everything up front except maintenance. The store manager has threatened peoples jobs for family emergencies.

I work in Logistics at a Wal-Mart Distribution Center. New this year: we are being asked to hand fill bags of fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides, etc. We are handling anywhere from 100 to 2000+ of these bags. The chemical dust and exposure made one man violently ill today, and another went home with symptoms. Management refuses to do anything about this as they say wal-mart lost too much money doing it the old way (the safe way of transporting full, wrapped pallets directly to stores.) No one should be exposed to these checmicals indoors on a daily basis.

I have been a cake decorator at Walmart for a total of 3 years. On November 24, 2009 I had major back surgery and have been on leave of absence for 3 months. The weeks prior to my surgery, I was assured by my managers that I would have my job when I returned to work. When I was released for work by my surgeon, on limited duty, my job and shift was gone. I was offered a 4 hour shift in the evening, which would be a hardship on me due to my disability. Walmart's solution was to put me in the garden center as a sales associate, which meant I went from a level 4 to a level 3 and lost .20 cents an hour.

I worked at Walmart for 1 1/2 years. I came down with the swine flu and started running a temperature at work. I asked to go home and was told by the manager on duty, that they couldn't force me to stay but if I went home my job was in jeopardy, and to suck it up and get back to work.

For my entire life, I've held to the belief that the big-name stores are what's destroying the Main Streets around the country. As a teen, I swore that even if Wal*Mart offered me the best wages available, I'd never work there. After graduating junior college with a transfer degree, however, the only place to work in this rural buttcrack of a town was Wal*Mart.

"In our store you only have a chance at a promotion if you kiss up to the managers. Moreover, the variance in the pay rates for the same job codes ranges about three dollars. Tell me how this is fair!"

"I am a department manager at a NJ store and in every single morning meeting (which are held on the sales floor in front of customers), we are yelled at for whatever the "catch of the day" is. We have a skeleton staff because they are firing and cutting hours. We are now being verbally abused each morning. Also, during the day, managers are screaming at us to go unload trucks, get carts from the parking or run registers over the walkies."
