22,000 new jobs? Yea right…
I was reading the article about Wal-Mart creating 22,000 jobs. I can’t believe the nerve they have calling them “quality” jobs. That is just what this country needs - more part-time minimum wage jobs. What they don’t tell people that most of these new jobs are part-time. Wal-Mart does not really hire full-time anymore. The only full-time jobs are department manager on up. A new store just opened in my area. About 90% of the jobs are part-time. These jobs are useless. In our area, most of the part-time people are averaging 5-20 hours a week. Some quit because they weren’t even making enough gas money to come in.
When these new people are hired they are misled. They think they were hired for a “real” job. Boy, they are shocked when they see their schedules. The way Wal-Mart’s scheduling system works, good luck trying to fit in another job to make ends meet. Right now even the full-time people are having problems getting any hours.
I would also like to ask: How many jobs has Wal-Mart destroyed? What about all the mom-and-pop shops? How many companies had to ship production overseas to meet Wal-Mart prices? This company is a plague.
I would really like to see you publicly ask Wal-Mart how many of these jobs are full-time. I want people to know their game. They weasel their way into these communities promising jobs. I want them exposed for what they really are. I don’t hear enough in the news about the fact that Wal-Mart is moving to a mostly part-time work force.
