Computerized Scheduling Strikes Again

“Saturday night they had me stock household chemicals, and I went back to the company doctor for a follow up on Monday. By that time, I was on crutches because I couldn’t bear any weight on my knee.“I was then told that I shouldn’t have been walking around on it and to quit using the crutches. So for the next three weeks I am put on door greeter duty and someone else was given my position (I was put back as an overnight stocker). Three months later, I started taking classes at the local community college and had to reduce my scheduling availability. They refused to accept it and told me that if I couldn’t work the hours scheduled then I would be fired. I then went to personnel and had my availability in the computer adjusted to show my new reduced availability; for the next three weeks, I was scheduled to work one day a week for three hours a day. When I complained, I was told that it was all that was available, but my boss was calling me in every night and she would manually clock me in. When it was time for my evaluation, all those clock-ins were counted against me, even though I was asked to help. Wal-Mart talks about wanting to help associates that go to college, it only applies if you do it their way!”
