Doctor’s note = punishment for insubordination

They only have a policy for things like jury duty. As a result of her absence from work, they wrote her up. This was her first one since she has been with the company. Now I know managers make mistakes but why would you write-up a good employee who has never missed work and always been professional? According to her boss, he did it because of company policy. This write-up will STOP her from being promoted and she has been told she cannot miss any more days of work. When I served in the military, as long as we provided a doctor’s note we were not retaliated against.
