“In all my years of working, I have NEVER seen a more anti-employee business.”
I am an older worker employed as an overnight Wal-Mart People Greeter. Wal-Mart may be creating 22,000 jobs in 2009, but (as a young worker) I would be VERY CAUTIOUS. In fact, having worked for Wal-Mart for more than a year, I would NOT recommend it to ANYONE…unless it is the ONLY show in town. In all my years of working, I have NEVER seen a more anti-employee business. Each night, for more than a year, I have gone to work discouraged, disheartened, and demoralized. Why have I stayed? I have been unable to get another job, but I continue trying. After more than a year in the employ of Wal-Mart, I make LESS than $9.00 per hour. It will be two more years, if I stay in the same job, before I can earn $9.00 per hour. Raises are just 40 cents an hour. Also, if I switched to a day job at Wal-Mart, the 50 cents per hour (which is received as an incentive to work at nights) would be TAKEN AWAY!
