Managers Messed With The Time Clock, Allowed Dust Problem In Store To Continue
Management always catered to the lowest common denominator because THEY were usually the dregs of society themselves. I can probably name half a dozen management employees at Wal-Mart that weren’t total jerks. Most of the better ones didn’t last long. I really put up with a lot of crap there, from management lying to my face, to management throwing red faced, fists-clenched tantrums and throwing boxes off my pallets onto the floor. I’ve personally witnessed store managers cussing out assistant managers right in front of me on several occasions. Some of my coworkers would wear T-shirts to work with vulgar sayings on them like: “Let’s play Army – I’ll lie down and you can blow the hell out of me”, etc. I know a few assistant managers that quit WM or transferred to another store because they would not lie or do underhanded things to the associates that the store managers wanted them to do. One support manager (who was left alone to run overnight shift by himself 3 or 4 times a week) used to let his buddies come in up to an hour late and he would use the assistant’s code to fix the times in the computer so the associate would be paid starting at 10 pm. Some of us were keeping track of the correct times of the associates over many months and when upper management was told about it, they didn’t even want to see the times to check on them. Nothing was done about it! That is tampering with hourly wages! Unbelievable… the elderly associates were all treated poorly and disrespectfully. Most just quit in disgust. I know plenty of employees who would steal things in full view of the cameras because they knew no one was watching them as security is all but non-existent. One associate even made a game of it – how much stuff could he steal all in one day! Personally, I suffered all sorts of health problems while there. They never cleaned the ductwork regularly so everyone always seemed to have sinus problems or a cold, including me. From trying to keep up with the insane workloads I got all sorts of sprained tendons, ligaments and also a herniated disk in my back, sleep problems from working night shift, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc. I could go on and on about this stuff but it is starting to depress me just thinking about what to write! I am quitting this week by not going in on Wednesday, Thanksgiving and Black Friday. I am totally disgusted with the place. I could stay out a few more weeks and milk the Leave of Absence but I just want to cut all ties with Wal-Mart and be done with it! It is like the Evil Empire and I need to get away! I’ve never had a job that I felt so badly about! I feel just like I am leaving an abusive spouse or something – like a battered wife. I could go on and on chronicling all of the bad stuff that happened at my Wal-Mart over the years but I really just want to put it behind me.
