Ronald Brown on Downsizing

“The reason for down-sizing in the company is only to work the employees harder and for some - without the necessary tools needed to carry out the work from day to day. Where I work, we have one person, sometimes walking 16-20 miles pushing carts with a cart machine that is on its last leg, yet they ask us to cover doors (in which I say no every time), leaving me or a co-worker outside pushing by ourselves. All of this, to make sure there is someone at a door when there are people inside walking around, doing absolutely nothing while they are on the clock.

“They are trying to cut cost by cutting corners. The fact they are double-working us; does that not deserve better than $7.65 to start? Also, I had gotten hurt doing my job as specified and I had gotten a verbal warning for getting hurt twice on the job within a year. All because of their lack of handling business and making the place a safe environment for the outdoor crew. This has been a fluctuating experience for the one year and 3 months I have been working there. They have shady work ethics, poor managerial skills and nothing they say can be trusted in my eyes. I have been lied to countless times and so have so many others working for Wal-Mart. Presently, I think my toe is broken, but I am so afraid of the repercussions, that I had not even filled out a complaint form for the injury.”
