“I know there are numerous lawsuits regarding employees either working off the clock and/or being forced to skip rest breaks. For about two years I’ve almost never had time to take my afternoon breaks because there is never enough help in the store, and no one in my work area.  Yet I’ve always been required to help the groups of several employees when I’ve worked alone and was given no help.  I wasn’t told not to take breaks, but I was given too much work to do and would be written up if I didn’t finish it.

“It’s more complicated than this, there is a pending EEOC case filed against them for gender discrimination and sexual harassment.  In addition to the many other problems there, I’ve long had to compensate for the fact that nobody does my job on my two days off and I’m required to prepare foods and stock my cases sufficiently for my days off.  Since I can’t do this, they have split my days off – then give me two consecutive days off for a few weeks, and now are threatening to split my days off again if I can’t do my Team Leader’s job and my own on her two days off.  They also gave me a negative score in “Team Work” on my annual evaluation because I’m also expected to help the Meat Department, which has several employees, yet they never help me.”
