Wal-Mart’s Workers Compensation: A Pain in the Back

“I was injured at work had to have back surgery.  Wal-Mart has made it nightmare.  It was major back surgery, and I was given a 25 % disability rating.  In the beginning, I didn’t rush to get a lawyer.  After the first six months and workers compensation changed my rep seven times, I realized that I was way over my head and should seek legal help to pay more than 25% of my bills. Workers compensation has dragged this out for close to three years.  The day of the deposition, no one from Wal-Mart showed.

“My doctor bills, personal bills are mounting. The stress is mounting.

“Before my surgery, I still tried to work for the simple fact life and bills go on despite my problems.  I had to use an electric cart to get around. The cart was moved while i was at lunch or in the restroom at least seven times. One time Management even found it in the walk-in freezer.  It is clear that I am being discriminated against and hazed because of my disability. I have very strict restrictions on my mobility, these are documented.  However, time and time again, I am placed in positions where Management makes requests that they know I am unable to do.”
